About the Author
John Dayton is a Professor of Education Law and Policy, and the Director of the Education Law Consortium, a non-partisan pro bono research group dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in education law. Professor Dayton is an internationally recognized expert on law and policy. He is a lawyer with experience in public and private legal practice. He has also served as a judicial clerk, and as a public school teacher and Program Director. In recognition of his academic achievements he was offered academic scholarships from many outstanding law schools including the Indiana University-Bloomington School of Law in his home State. Professor Dayton holds both a law degree and a doctoral degree in educational administration and policy from Indiana University. Dr. Dayton has taught law and policy courses for over two decades including education law; higher education law; special education law; medical law; school safety and security; and professional ethics. Dr. Dayton is currently a professor at the University of Georgia where he was the first recipient of the Glickman Award for excellence in research and teaching and is a member of the University Teaching Academy. Dr. Dayton is the author of over a 100 law review articles, books, and other publications on law and policy. He is an internationally recognized author and speaker on law and policy issues.

Excellent Tool

Georgia Education Law is an excellent tool not only for anyone in Georgia working in education but for those people who work closely with schools and school-aged youth. As a person working with 4-H, I found this book to be extremely helpful as my organization works closely everyday with school administrators, faculty and students. If your profession is related to working with school-aged youth in Georgia, this is not only a must-read but a must-have reference book for you!

I liked this book because it is well organized, concise, and does a good job of explaining law concepts. Also, it has helped me a lot to understand legal research, because it is clearly explained, step by step. I have also found important and famous court cases and understood how the law is applied to different cases. Regarding public policy, federal law, GA law, and how law binds all the disciplines, this is the book I have wanted.
